(Inside magazine:) “Sun Over Yellowstone” is the first in a series of Mountain Mandalas from artist Iona Yabut that takes a spiritual approach in presenting the landscapes of Montana’s Paradise Valley. Iona found inspiration for the series one morning in the brilliant sunlight defining the mountain skyline; the curvature of the overlapping peaks reminded the artist of the contours of her mandalas. In “Sun Over Yellowstone,” the sun is the mandala. As the Yellowstone River ripples along its course, the pulsing star sculpts the land, illumines the sky, and hints at an ethereal paradise hidden in plain sight.
Iona is a former art therapist who promotes art's healing intention by creating artwork that honors the universal divine of the observer. Every painting is made in meditation in order to resonate with viewers on higher levels. The artist hopes her work will encourage souls to seek divine truth and find soul liberation.
